My birthday gift to YOU!

Yes, friends. Today I turn 34. It's actually quite difficult to fathom that I've spent 34 years on this earth. Wow. #gratitude

To those middle school kids last week, I seem old. To those kindergartners, I seem ancient. To those mentors, I seem young. To my parents, I still am a baby. :)

Age is all in your perspective. How you see it, is how it will be.

If you've followed this blog for any significant amount of time you know things things to be true about your writer:

1. Live simply.
2. Love in all things.
3. Gratitude is the key to being able to breathe through your life. Being grateful doesn't mean life is perfect, it just means overlooking the "blech" parts and finding the "ahhhh" parts.
4. Find simple things to pamper yourself and rejuvenate your day.
5. Music speaks to my soul every day. It supports my emotion no matter what it is and gives me hope. It reminds me of love. It encourages me to dance. It bonds me and my children, my and my husband. I love every kind of music you can think of and jazz is one of my favorite things to listen to while sipping on some great wine!

I could not live without any of these things. I would be miserable without them.

So, for my birthday I'm giving YOU a present.

1. Here is a great holiday tradition to start with your family at any time! You can readjust it to 10 days, 5 days. Remember that kids love simple things just as much as you do!

2. A great friend (JL) has offered to giveaway one of her products! I've chosen to giveaway something to pamper your body!  You'll love it and it will force you to pamper that skin!

3. A great musician agreed to giveaway his CD. Jonny Blu will send an autographed CD to you!

So - the rules.

  2. Today we went and picked out our Christmas tree...Hazlie's first one. She had fallen asleep on the car ride there but I woke her up, wrapped her up in blankets and brought her out in the cold, windy, snowy day just so she could experience the tree choosing with us. She won't remember it, but I will.

  3. Today when I woke up (I got to sleep in YAY) I came out into the living room and Nate saw me and got the saddest look on his face and started to cry. The look on his face was like, "get me out of this jumperoo!" So I picked him up and he just laid his little head on my shoulder and cuddled me for a whole half hour! It was awesome, he never just cuddles anymore and it made me SO happy!

  4. Today I spent the day having what my mom, sisters and I like to call "Family Fun Day" we went to see the beautiful Christmas tree at the local museum and then to see where they keep the Omaha Police horses. After that I spent the evening curled up on the couch cuddling with the best boyfriend a girl could have watching football. It was a great way to spend a Sunday! :)

  5. Today I sifted through boxes that I've spent almost 7 months trying to get out of storage. It may not seem like much but I spent hours finding things that I have missed, and discovering what of my material belongings really mattered to me and my future. After spending those forty days reminding myself what all I have to be thankful for I was also able to realize how trivial and petty my old diary entries could be when I found a journal from a couple years back.

  6. This morning I spent time alone with Spirit, and was reminded of the most important lesson I was ever taught: It doesn't matter HOW you get there, as long as you revel in the journey. It is in the journey alone that we meet our true selves. I must say though, it's nice to have such a great and insightful travel companion! lol Although my body feels "blech" right now (dang allergies!), my spirits are lifted and I feel more hopeful than ever!

  7. Sundays have become my "me" days. I try to take time every Sunday to relax and rejuvenate. Today began with breakfast with the girls. No need to rush, we just sat and enjoyed. After breakfast, I put potato soup in the crock pot. Comfort food in always good for my soul! I was able to sneak in a bubble bath and some present wrapping while Lexie was at a birthday party. The day ended with a great evening. I was invited by a great friend to a Christmas party at a church I have not ever visited. I was nervous and not sure what to expect, but stepped out of my comfort zone and had a great time. Such a refreshing night!

  8. I enjoyed myself today by surprising my kids with a new Christmas tree and putting it up with them. The look on their faces and their excitement over something so simple was the absolute best! Next we will enjoy decorating it.

  10. Today I ate dinner with my immediate family as well as my extended family. We discussed our plans for this weekend and we have our annual "Strawn" family party. It's our first year without both our Grandmother and Grandmother, but we're all looking forward to it.

  11. Hmm...mine didn't post the first time. :(

This morning I got to watch Audrey get on the bus with a big smile for the first time in a week! (The week after Thanksgiving is always hard for us.) Then, Sarah taught me that our nativity scene is less of a still life scene and more of an action figure set. Baby Jesus says the darndest things! ;)
